Barry Small is the friendly face of Studio Bravura.
Barry was awarded a Bachelor of Architecture from Western Australian Institute of Technology (now Curtin University) in 1984, and has had a long and colourful architectural career since then. He has worked on projects of many different scales, from single residential developments and renovations to create bespoke homes for his clients, to complex multi residential estates and commercial developments. In 2002 he launched his own business in Studio Bravura and has been committed in his role as Director ever since.
Barry is passionate about sustainable design and loves to incorporate the principles of refurbishment or repurposing meaningful materials into the design of his projects. In this, Studio Bravura is committed to preserving history and heritage in its works in a seamless integration of the old and new.
Barry is a specialist in regulatory and statutory requirements and prides himself on successful negotiations between clients and governing bodies.
Barry has been well recognised for his contribution to the architectural landscape in Western Australia, including the COHEN award during his university years, which is awarded to an individual who fluently demonstrates the values of collaboration and selflessness.
His professional accolades include awards for excellence by the Urban Development Institution of Australia.
In his spare time, Barry likes to spend time with his family and in the outdoors. He is passionate about walking and trekking, and has completed trails across the world. He also loves to work on developing his own family residence – a New York style industrial home hidden in the peace of suburbia.
